The Long Silence

Gentlewomen and Gentlemen of the Vox Chaotica Council! How are you all today? What have you been up to? Do you still like nibbling on crumpets spread with strawberry jam—the way you used to, back when we thought the world was just a map written in a language we didn't understand?

Do you know what I'm talking about? Because I certainly don't.

Anyway, you can probably already tell I've spent too much time doing nothing of great importance on this, my last (foreseeable) summer break. Too many videogames, hanging out with friends (and the Lady), and this little thing called FREAKING PHOENIX COMICON.

Moments before Zach took his shirt off and all the ladies had a small shiver run down their spine.

So yeah, that's a real thing that happened. I was also working there with the company I'm volunteering with (80/20 Records), helping the 14 bands perform over the weekend. We had John Snow (Gabe Kubanda of EPT) playing guitar and singing songs, the entirety of the Enterprise's bridge singing songs about time, space, and aliens, and a whole slew of amazing bands all weekend long (shoutout to my friends in DWARF, who rocked so hardcore the bassist almost died twice).

And that was just May.

Here's the deal. You likely noticed a small, strange thing. Or maybe you didn't—I tend to say a bunch of weird and inexplicable things here (and in real life). But enough lollygagging: I said I was spending a bunch of time with the Lady. [Editor's note: the alt-text won't show, AND IT MAKES ME VERY UNHAPPY, so here's a free alt-text for you, "I am a devious and evil soul."] I met a lovely Lady in my Tarot class—one with purple hair, a delightful smile that catches just at the corners of her mouth, and is one of the most wonderful entities in this whole universe. We are quite happy. Come find me in person and use this to get an excuse to ask me more about her.

The other big thing for me was my trip to Colorado! My sister, parents, and I have gone up to visit my Mum's family every summer since I can remember. Used to be my grandparent's basement we all stayed in, but after they passed, it's been my Uncle and his family. Their house looks out over this (kinda—there are a few houses between, but their neighborhood has its own zipcode, so...):

LOOK AT THAT. MY POOR ARIZONAN HEART WEEPS AT THE UNFILTERED, COOL BEAUTY OF THIS PARADISE ON EARTH.

So that was a lovely time. Especially because we left Highlands Ranch to go to Howard, CO—and had this view:

This is actually a very peaceful, spiritual place for me. It's one of the places where you can feel the love radiating off everything in the house.

THIS PROPERTY HAS TWO OF ITS OWN FREAKING CREEKS RUNING THROUGH!

I used to play in this creek—which was incredibly dumb because it's fed by snow melt. So absolutely freezing all the time.

Not to rub it in, but my summer has been pretty freaking amazing so far. How about you? What've you been up to?

I am sorry I completely disappeared off the face of the Earth for a while. I'm back now, and though maybe not full of exciting adventures and

tl;dr - I MISS YOU GUYS AND I'M SORRY but my summer has been super sick.
